PNC supportive of disciplinary action against Ndebugre

Kumasi, March 19, GNA – The Ashanti regional executive of the People’s National Convention (PNC) has expressed its support for the disciplinary action taken by the Standing Committee of the party against Mr. John Ndebugre, Member of Parliament (MP) for Zebilla.

“We want to state that the conduct of Mr Ndebugre when he appeared before the Standing Committee and even after he had been disciplined, confirms the position of the leadership of the party that he is indisciplined”.

This was contained in a release signed by Mr. Thomas Akum-Yong and Abraham Kaba, Regional Chairman and Secretary respectively in Kumasi. The release said: “A person like Mr. Ndebugre who wants to have his personal ideas dominate the party even against the position taken by competent structures of the party, is not needed in the party”. It recalled that at the executive committee meeting held at Legon preceding the national congress of the party in May 2004, Mr. Ndebugre moved a motion for the PNC to co-operate with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and this motion was rejected by every member of the National Executive Committee.

The executive said even though the PNC has shown itself as an alternative to the NPP and openly criticise it, whenever the PNC disagrees with them, they were surprised that Mr. Ndebugre was pretending as if his being in bed with the NPP has the blessing of majority of the party members.

The release urged the national leadership not to be dissuaded by the MP’s claim that they are working for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and therefore abandon their principled stand to keep the government of the NPP on its toes.

“At any rate, we are surprised that Mr Ndebugre who lent legitimacy to the Rawlings regime that overthrew the Limann’s administration by accepting several executive positions in the PNDC, should hypocritically now be more concerned with the demise of Dr Limann than people who stood by him during those difficult times”, the release added.
