Police caution public on job and visa fraudsters

Accra, March, GNA – The Police on Thursday cautioned the general public to be aware of false claims by some persons to secure them visas to travel to Liberia where jobs were available. A statement signed by Inspector Gloria Donkor for the Director of Public Affairs of the Police Service stated that the activities of these fraudsters were particularly predominant at areas around the Buduburam Camp in the Central Region.

The statement said the Liberian Government had not contracted any person or agency to recruit employees for jobs in their country. In a related development, the Police said it had also come to its notice that some football fans had been duped while others were also following fake visa contractors for visas to Germany to watch the World Cup.

“The public are strongly advised to desist from paying monies to private individuals or agencies that profess to have authority and contacts to acquire visas for and on their behalf.” It asked interested persons who want to watch the World Cup matches in Germany to contact the Embassy and apply individually for their visas.
