Asamankese, March 13, GNA – A circuit court at Asamankese has remanded Robert Forson, a blacksmith, for unlawful possession of leaves suspected to be Indian hemp. Forson who pleaded not guilty is to be brought before the court again on March 14.
Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Joseph Idan told the court that Forson was being sought by Police on suspicion of breaking into a room and stealing five million cedis, but when he was arrested on May 5, last year and a search was conducted in his room a quantity of leaves suspected to be Indian hemp was found in a plastic container. He said when confronted, he told the police that two men who visited him the previous right might have left them in the room and gave their names, but failed to lead the police to their houses, though he claimed they were his farm hands. The Prosecution said the leaves were sent to the Police Forensic Laboratory in Accra for analysis and a report received certified the leaves to be Indian hemp weighing 17 grammes.
