Observe eclipse of the moon while wearing spectacles

Kumasi, March 13, GNA – The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), has strongly advised members of the public, who will be enthusiastic at observing the eclipse of the moon on Wednesday, 29th March 2006, to strive to wear prescribed spectacles from qualified opticians. The advice, which was contained in a Press Statement, said the use of the prescribed spectacles was quite important, since according to experts, the rays from the eclipse could be harmful to the naked eye. The statement was issued in Kumasi on Monday, and signed on behalf of the Ashanti Regional Co-ordinator of the NADMO by Alhaji Mohammed Moro, Public Relations Officer of the regional secretariat of the organisation.

NADMO further entreated members of the public to also follow the instructions and pieces of advice given by the regional directorate of the Ministry of Health, pertaining to the occurrence and observation of the eclipse. The Meteorological Department has given an early warning about the likely occurrence of an eclipse of the moon by the 29th March, which is likely to last for three minutes.
