Esaase (Ash), March 07, GNA – Swiss volunteers on exchange programme have spent over 100 million cedis in providing infrastructure and other facilities in the Esaase Christian International School and Orphanage in the Atwima Nwabiagya District.
These include a block of four classrooms, transit quarters to accommodate more volunteers, furniture and mosquito nets. Mr Daniel Boateng, the proprietor, said this at the school’s 10th anniversary celebrations that coincided with the installation of Miss Deborah Ferrari, one of the volunteers, as the queen mother of the school.
He said more than 120 orphans and other brilliant but needy pupils in the school have been offered scholarships by the school authorities. Mr Boateng later launched a 100-million-cedi development programme that envisages the construction of a computer laboratory, a library and a clinic.
Miss Ferrari expressed her appreciation to the school authorities for the honour and said the volunteers would continue to solicit assistance to provide the school with a means of transport, adequate textbooks and sporting equipment and also renovate the school building. 07 March 06
