Journalists to vote on March 9

Accra, March 3, GNA – The Elections Committee of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) on Friday confirmed that members of the Association would go to the polls on Thursday, March 9. At a meeting with all candidates contesting the national election or their representatives, the Committee also announced that a Public Forum would be held at the Press Centre on Tuesday, March 7 at 1600 hours.

A statement issued by the Committee in Accra said candidates would present their manifestos and answer questions from their colleagues at the Forum.

The Committee said it was also making arrangements for the candidates to appear on GTV Breakfast Show from Monday, March 6 to Wednesday, March 8.

On proxy voting, the statement agreed that all applications for proxy voting should reach the Committee on or before Wednesday, March 8.

The application should give the name and media house of the voter who wants a proxy to vote for him/her and the name and media house of the proxy.

Thursday’s voting would be for the following positions: President: Ms Sarah Akrofi-Quarcoo, Mr Ransford Tetteh and Mrs Gina Blay; Vice President: Mr Affail Monney and Mrs Charity Binka; Organising Secretary: Mr Dave Agbenu and Mr Alfred Ogbamey and Treasurer: Ms Yaa Acquah and Ms Esi Asante.

The Elections Committee wished all the candidates good luck.
