Minister to broadcast on bird flu

Accra, Feb. 22, GNA – The Minister of Food and Agriculture, Mr Ernest Debrah would broadcast to the nation on Wednesday on measures being adopted by the government to combat avian flu influenza (bird flu) should it break out in Ghana.

A statement signed in Accra by the Minister of Education, Mr. Dan Botwe said the broadcast would be on radio and TV at 2000 hours. So far the disease has not yet been detected in Ghana, but it is in Nigeria.

Ghana has banned the import of poultry products from Nigeria and countries across the eastern border.
