Twelve people injured in accident at Nkawie

Nkawie (Ash), Feb 21, GNA – Twelve people on Tuesday morning received various degrees of injuries when a 207 Benz bus in which they were travelling from Kumasi to Sefwi-Akontobra on the Kumasi-Bibiani trunk road, ran into a ditch in front of the Nkawie market. The injured whose names were not immediately known include a two-year-old baby whose upper part of the body was smeared with blood. Eyewitnesses including the GNA, saw that the accident occurred when the Benz bus with registration number AS 421 W swerved off the road when it made an attempt to avoid hiting a Nissan pick-up with registration number GT 7286 V, which suddenly crossed it. Sensing danger, the driver of the pick-up failed to stop and sped off towards the Bibiani road.

Some of the injured are receiving treatment at the Nkawie-Toase Government Hospital while those in critical conditions have been referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi. The Nkawie police have mounted a search for the run away driver.
