Gbeogo chief commends Netherlands Embassy

Gbeogo (U/E), Feb. 20, GNA – Naaba Pius Puzotkpet Tushyin, chief of Gbeogo in the newly created Talensi/Nabdam District of the Upper East Region, has commended the Netherlands Embassy for providing the community with 100 solar energy lanterns worth 100 million cedis. He made the commendation in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Gbeogo on Sunday.

Naaba Tushyin, who is the Programme Director of the Namalteng Integrated Development Programme (NIDEP), a local NGO based in the District, said the lanterns were sold to interested members of the community at reduced prices to improve their living standards. He hinted that NIDEP, which was formed since 1992 and registered with the Registrar General Department in 1994, was aimed at promoting peace, organising educational programmes on childhood killer diseases, bush fires and HIV/AIDS prevention and extending credit facilities to organised groups.

He also commended Action Aid Ghana and the Catholic Relief Services (CRS) for the support rendered to NIDEP, especially the opening of an HIV/AIDS resource centre at Gbeogo.
