Mayor of Kumasi fetes second-cycle students

Kumasi, Feb. 19, GNA – Madam Patricia Appiagyei, Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive on Saturday held a reception for cross-section of students in second-cycle institutions within the metropolis at her residence in Kumasi.

The programme organized by the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly was to afford her the opportunity to interact with students and institute programmes that would enhance their development.

Madam Appiagyei asked the students to take their studies serious to justify the investment being made by their parents.

“You should not indulge in drug abuse and other social vices because the nation looks up to you as future leaders,” She added. Madam Appiagyei said the assembly was committed to collaborate with school authorities to organize regular quiz competitions and other educational activities to enhance their development.

She said in addition, the assembly would take a critical look at encroachment on school lands, which impacted negatively on academic work of affected schools.
