Sub-standard schools to be closed down

Nkoranza (B/A), Feb. 13, GNA – Mr. Kwabena Agyemang-Badu, Nkoranza District Director of Education, has warned that his outfit would close down any private school that would fail to meet the required standards. Addressing a meeting of staff and students of Yahwe Shalom Secretariat and Business College at Nkoranza, he noted that as much as the proprietors established the schools for profit, they must ensure that the students received the desired attention and care. He called for the formation of a Students Representative Council (SRC) to serve as the mouthpiece of the students to exchange ideas with the staff and management to enhance growth.

Mr. Agyemang-Badu urged the students not to resort to strike actions to back their demands but to pass their grievances through the SRC for redress to promote peace co-existence. He commended the Proprietor of the School, Mr. Kwarfo Apagya, and urged the students to respect the staff and management to receive the necessary training that would propel them to become responsible citizens in future.

Mr. Apagya announced plans to provide the school with solar energy lighting system to ensure that the students enjoyed power at all times. Mr. Owusu Acheaw, Headmaster, expressed gratitude to the District Director for the visit to interact with them and helping to solve some challenges facing the staff and the students.
