Wonoo (Ash), Feb 6, GNA- Mr Philip Basoah, the Sekyere East District Chief Executive (DCE), at the Weekend called on Ghanaians to avoid ethnic politics and rally behind the government to enable it achieve its aim of making the country a happy place. He said the government was pursuing pragmatic policies and programmes towards the improvement of the economy to raise the living standards of the people.
Mr Basoah, who was speaking at separate forums at Dadease and Wonoo near Kumawu, during a familiarization tour of the district, urged the people to eschew negative attitudes and work assiduously towards the development of the area.
He said the government was seriously committed to providing the educational and health needs of the people.
Mr Basoah, therefore, appealed to them to support the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) and make use of the capitation grant by sending their children to school.
He commended Nana Dr. Kwao Ababio III, chief of Dadease for his contribution towards the development of the community, and asked the people to support the traditional rulers and unit committees to move the town forward.
Mr John Kofi Adomako, the District Co-ordinating Director, appealed to the people to fulfil their tax obligation, to enable the assembly generate funds for development and that the assembly would after three months notice, sent tax defaulters to court. Nana Dr. Ababio called on the assembly to complete the market project in the town as schedule, to assist the community to complete a clinic project, which it had initiated, build additional classrooms for the basic school, and provide bulbs for streetlights in the town. Mr Yaw Baah, assemblyman for Wonoo, appealed to the assembly to construct toilet for the town and to extend electricity to parts of the town to facilitate socio-economic activities.
