Bolga Naaba Meets Bukere And Soe Chiefs On Communal Violence

Bolgatanga, Jan. 26, GNA. The Paramount Chief of Bolgatanga, Naaba Martin Abilba III, has set up a six-member committee to investigate and find means of resolving the conflict that erupted between Bukere and Soe, both suburbs of the Bolgatanga Municipality. The six-member committee comprises Mr. Williams Adongo, Mr. Jacob Atalebe, and Mr. Ayariga Aduko.

The rest are Mr. Evans Anafo, Mr. Moses Ayimbue and Mr. Moses Asakeyine.

The Bolga Naaba expressed concern over the communal violence and wondered why the two chiefs of the areas could not prevent it. He indicated that the money that was being used for the maintenance of peace could have been used for development.

Naaba Abilba pointed out that the two areas engaged in inter marriages and regretted what happened and reiterated the need for the Chiefs and elders to help bring the situation under control. The two Chiefs, in response promised that they would use their outfit to bring the unfortunate situation happened under control. On January 15, there was communal violence between Bukere and Soe both suburbs of Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region that led to the death of a 15-year-old girl, ten people sustaining injuries and several houses and properties burnt.

Meanwhile the security personnel are patrolling the area both day and night to ensure that peace prevails.
