NPP Chairman pays courtesy call on Konor of Manya.

Odumase Krobo (E/R), Jan 23, GNA – The National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Peter Mac Manu, has reaffirmed the commitment of his party to run an open and transparent administration that draws on the diverse ethnic mix of the nation for eventual development.

He said the ultimate goal of the NPP was to govern Ghana in a participatory environment in which every law abiding citizen was able to achieve his aspirations, adding that, continual condemnation and loathing of violence and other acts of intimidation was premised on this fact.

Mr Mac Manu stated this when he paid a courtesy call on the Konor of Manya Krobo, Nene Sakite II, at the Manya Klo Palace at Odumase Krobo on Saturday.

The NPP Chairman assured the Manya Traditional Council of the preparedness of the New Patriotic Party to team-up with them so that together, they could find long-term solution to some of the myriad social problems that had engulfed the area over the years. He said although the Krobo area, comprising the Yilo and Manya Krobo districts, had proved “particularly difficult terrains for the NPP”, the party, nevertheless, had not given up on the area. Mr Mac Manu announced that the NPP was evolving new ways of engaging the Krobo people constructively, which benefits, he hoped would accrue to the people, the party and the nation.

Nene Sakite noted the desire of his people to partner with development-centred agencies to bring about change in their lives. He commended the new executive of the NPP for their vision to partner chiefs for the development of the people. The Eastern Regional Chairman of the NPP, Mr Yaw Gyekye Amoabeng, said the regional secretariat would aim at strengthening all constituencies in the region, by providing them with the necessary logistics, especially in areas where the party had failed to make in-roads in the past.

Mr Alecs Agbobo, the Regional Secretary, the Regional Vice-Chairman, Sub-Lt. Christian Tettey, and Mr Kofi Plaha ex-DCE of Ada accompanied Mr Mac Manu. GNA
