NDC propaganda secretary denounces NPP claims

The former deputy Brong Ahafo Regional Propaganda Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alhaji Dauda Bawa, has denounced claims by both the Brong Ahafo Regional chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Deputy Regional Minister that he has now joined the NPP.

While delivering their addresses at the end-of-year party organized by the Sunyani East branch of the Nasara club at Amantel Restaurant in Sunyani, both the NPP chairman, Nana Obiri Boahen and the Deputy Regional Minister, Ignatius Baffour, had told members of the club that they were happy that Alhaji Dauda had seen the light and had finally pitched camp with the elephant party.

This announcement by the two party gurus received applause from NPP members, indicating a welcome signal for the former NDC propaganda secretary.

Alhaji Dauda, who also attended the ceremony, indicated that the word “Nasara” in the Hausa word meant victory and for that matter every human being on this earth wanted victory, adding that in politics every vote was important and such numbers in politics were very crucial.

In his usual style of speaking in proverbs, the former propaganda secretary said, “Even in the land of the dead, they need more numbers to make their population larger.”

He however told members of the Nasara club that at the appropriate time, he would come out to tell the world his political stance.

Later in an interview with The Chronicle, the deputy Propaganda Secretary disclosed that his reason for attending the end-of-year party was not because he was a member of the NPP, but upon the invitation extended to him by the Nasara Club chairman, Alhaji Iddrisu Mukaila.

He told The Chronicle that Alhaji Mukaila was his personal friend and since he was the chairman, he decided to join him to host the members of the club, hence his presence.

Alhaji Dauda hinted that, as of now, he has retired from active politics because of his age, which is why he did not contest for any position in the NDC when the party held its regional delegates’ congress.

The former Propaganda Secretary, aged 65 years, said since he was dormant and had no role in the NDC, he had not made up his mind to belong to the right or the left, but he however gave the assurance that at the appropriate time, he would come out to announce his political decision.

He hinted that as an executive member, he was inactive, but he is still a member of the NDC.

Shortly, after the interview with The Chronicle, Alhaji Dauda was invited to the podium by the leadership of the NPP, who requested Muslim prayers for him from the Brong Ahafo Regional Chief Imam, Alhaji Omar Abdul-Kadr.

After the prayers, the NPP regional chairman then announced that Alhaji Dauda had now been baptized as a member of the NPP.
