Brong Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs gets a counsel

Sunyani, Jan 12, GNA – Brong-Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs now has a substantive counsel in the person of Mr Kwasi Boakye, Regional Director of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice. The House appointed Mr Boakye at an emergency meeting in Sunyani on Thursday, following a recommendation by the Attorney General’s Department.

Okatakyie Agyeman Kudom, the President of the House, said the House had lacked a counsel to help resolve the numerous chieftaincy disputes in the region for the past five years.

He said the number of disputes had increased from 45 to 53 and were retarding the growth and development of the region. Okatakyie Agyeman, who is Omanhene of Nkoranza Traditional Area, appealed to the chiefs to unite and cope with the new counsel to help solve the disputes amicably.

Mr Boakye thanked the House for the appointing him and promised to work hard to ensure that peace prevailed in the various traditional areas.
