Police clamps down on wee smokers

Breman Asikuma (C/R), Jan 12, GNA – The new District Police commander for Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa, Superintendent Michael Avadetsi has warned that “wee” smokers have no place in the district. He said he has organized a task force to round Brakwa, Odoben and Breman Asikuma townships and burnt down the sheds (ghetto) where they hide to smoke the wee herb.

The Police commander disclosed this at his office in an interview with Ghana News Agency at Breman Asikuma.

He said for the short stay in the district he has observed that the youth have no respect for traditional authorities and politics and this attitude is due to week smoking which leads to abnormal behaviour. He said the burning down of the sheds is a warning signal to be followed by disciplinary action for arrest and prosecution. He said the police alone cannot clamp down on the wee smokers and therefore, appeal to the general public, especially the relatives to report the smokers to the police.
