Mfantseman Assembly to establish Senior Citizens’ Centres

Saltpond (CR), Dec 28, GNA – The Mfantseman District Assembly is to establish Senior Citizens’ Centres where the aged could go and relax to share ideas.

They would also serve as places for the youth to learn the history of their communities and the District. Mr Robert Quainoo-Arthur, District Chief Executive (DCE), announced this at a get-together organised by the Saltpond branch of Helpage Ghana for the aged.

He advised the aged not to think that they had played their part and had nothing to contribute towards the development of the society. The DCE stated that, “Experience is the best teacher” and urged the elderly to use their experience and expertise to guide the youth to curb indiscipline and to lead lifestyles that would prolong their lives. He said that “even though the Bible has set ‘three scores and ten’ as the lifespan of man” people who led careless lifestyle could not attain it.

The executives of the Saltpond branch of the Helpage Ghana made up of Mr Victor Aggrey, Chairman, Madam Elizabeth Davis, Vice Chairperson, Mr Jonathan Anaman, Secretary and Mr Kweku Boadu, Founder were introduced at the function.
