Cape Coast, Dec 24, GNA – Three police personnel in the Central Region who distinguished themselves and performed creditably over the years were on Friday rewarded by the regional police command at its offices at Cape Coast.
The awards ceremony coincided with the regional annual “WASSA”, an end of year get-together for police personnel in the region. Inspector Anthony Amedzator station office Twifo Morkwaa a deprived community in the Twifo-Hemang-Lower-Denkyira district was adjudged the best Policeman in the region for his “hard work and dedication to duty which had impressed the chief of the town and had started the construction of a police station and barracks for the Service.
For his prize, he received a double-decked refrigerator, and in an accompanying citation the regional commander, Mrs Rose Bio Atinga said despite the deprived nature of the area and the deplorable state of the police station, inspector Amedzator had worked diligently, serving about 15 communities.
“Your dedication and good policing has restored peace in the area since you took office in 1997”, the citation added.
The Second prize of a 20-inch colour television went to Sergeant Paul Kwadwo Addae, a secretary at the regional offices of the Service whom the commander described as “efficient, hard- working” and always at post”.
Detective Sergeant Sintim Aboagye of the Assin Praso police, who received the third prize of a table-top fridge, was also described as a dedicated worker.
Three others who received citations for their meritorious services were also recognized by the regional command. They are the station officer of the Saltpond police, Mr Patrick Yeboah whom the regional commander, said had carved “a good name” for himself and the Service in his area, general corporal Ernest Mensah, a driver at the regional police administration who “in spite of his ill health answered to a duty call” and M.K Jackson of the Awusam station in the Assin Fosu district “who is doing excellent job” in his area. Mrs Atinga, in an address assured personnel of the service that the Police administration would continue to recognize “excellence, hard work and dedication to duty” and reward deserving personnel.
She commended the personnel for working hard to combat crime in the region despite the numerous setbacks and urged them to continue to perform their duties with dedication since it would never go unnoticed. Mrs Atinga said as police officers they have a difficult schedule, but urged them to be tolerant with the public and abide by the ethics of their call. 24 Dec, 05
