Ajumako (C/R), Dec 21, GNA – The Ghana Education Service (GES) is to equip all district education offices with computers under the Education Management Information System (EMIS) Project to provide accurate information on education management to stakeholders. Mr Thomas Hutton Coleman, Co-ordinator of EMIS project who announced this, said the first batch of personnel from the 10 regions and 50 selected districts of GES have already been trained and would soon have their offices computerized.
By 2007, all the 138 district education offices throughout the country would have been computerized, he added.
Mr Coleman was addressing 167 District and Regional Education Statistics Officers drawn the Western, Volta, Brong-Ahafo and Ashanti regions at the end of a four-day Education Census Training Workshop at Ajumako in the Central region at the weekend.
He stressed the importance of data and said without reliable and credible data, there cannot be any meaningful education planning. Mr. Coleman therefore asked the district and regional education statistics officers to ensure that they provide data that could be properly used for education planning.
This data, he said, should be reliable, relevant, timely, verifiable and consistent.
