Bawku Central NPP Chairman files suit

Bawku (UER), Dec.19, GNA – Mr Awudu Gumah, Bawku Central Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has filed a writ at the Bolgatanga Circuit court against the Upper East Regional Chairman and seven executive members of the Regional Secretariat for conducting polling stations’ Chairmen and Constituency Executives’ elections. In his statement of claim, Mr Gumah prayed the court to declare both elections, held on December 12, and 14, 2005, respectively, null and void and of no legal standing.

He averred that the Regional executives in consultation with the Constituency executives agreed that both elections should be held after the National Delegates Conference on December 17, 2005 due to the lack of unity among party members.

The statement said some of the polling stations Chairmen used in the elections were on suspension and were not qualified to contest. It further prayed the court to set aside the elections and order fresh, free and fair elections to determine the true and legal executives of the party.
