Students receive help from Achiase Educational Endowment Fund

Akyem Achiase, Dec 16, GNA – Five university students from Akyem Achiase in the Birim South District had been presented with a total of four million cedis from the Educational Endowment Fund at a ceremony at Akyem Achiase.

The beneficiary students who received 800,000 cedis each were Mary Tsibo, Isaac K. Opoku, Collins Agyei, Isaac K. Owusu and Frank Kwakye. Fourteen other needy but brilliant basic school pupils were also provided with free school uniforms.

Presenting the cheques to the students the chief of Akyem Achiase, Osabarima Gyenin Kenten, II, advised parents to attach importance to their children’s education.

He stressed the need for parents to ensure that they provided their wards with the necessary learning aids.

The chairman of the Fund Mr Paul Asiedu said the fund has connected electricity to all junior secondary schools and appealed for support from the communities through donations to enable similar facilities to be extended to students in teacher training colleges. Mr Aseidu commended Dr K. K. Marfo, a Deputy IGP in-charge of Operations, Mr Kwesi Amoah, an educationist as well as Akim Achiase citizens resident in Accra for their support for the fund.
