Weak bridge poses danger to residents of Kotokuom

Kotokuom(Ash), Dec.15, GNA – A weak bridge spanning Offin river from Kwanfinfin to Kotokuom and other surrounding farming communities within the Atwima Mponua district is posing grave danger to both motorists and pedestrians. A visit to the area by the Ghana News Agency revealed that, the bridge constructed in 1958 had not been rehabilitated. It had developed cracks with some of the railings removed.

Mr George Boakye Danquah, Chairman of the Kotokuom Unit Committee told the GNA that, state of the bridge was a major concern to the people especially when it becomes more dangerous during the rainy season. Mallam Amadu Bimoba, chief farmer of the Kotokuom-Nnwirem, a farming community in the area appealed to the Government to repair the bridge to avoid closure of the road in the event of any disaster because a lot of foodstuffs and cocoa in the area would be locked .
