TESCON executive in four tertiary institutions react to story

Kumasi, Dec 14, GNA – All the executive members of the Tertiary Students confederacy (TESCON) of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of the four tertiary institutions in Ashanti have disassociated themselves from a recent statement purported to have been issued by Ashanti TESCON which threw its support behind Mr Issah Musah Superior, who is gunning for the post of National Organiser of the NPP.

The four institutions are the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi college of Technology Education and the Asante-Mampong College of Agricultural Education, all of the University of Education Winneba (UEW) and the Kumasi Polytechnic.

A statement issued in Kumasi on Wednesday by TESCON and signed by David Irwin-Osei, President of KNUST branch, Owusu-Afriyie Elijah, President of Kumasi Polytechnic TESCON and Richardson Edwards, UEW-Kumasi President of TESCON, said TESCON as an institution was autonomous and only come together as and when necessary. “But in this case no such decision has been taken and we strongly believe that some faceless people are out there to cause mischief to secure political points”. The statement therefore asked TESCON members and the public to ignore the said publication, pointing out that as foot soldiers of the party, TESCON had the duty to support all contestants but not their duty to align with any particular contestant or to any party office.
