Acting Principal of Koforidua Polytechnic killed in motor accident

Koforidua, Dec.5, GNA – Mr Samuel Tettey Okorley, 39, Acting Principal of Koforidua Polytechnic is dead.

Mr Okorley died following injuries he sustained in a tragic motor accident on the Kumasi-Koforidua road last Wednesday, November 30 while returning from an official engagement at Sunyani.

A statement issued by the Polytechnic said Mr Okorley died three days after this year’s matriculation ceremony of the Polytechnic. It said the deceased joined staff of the Polytechnic in May 1999 having obtained a Master of Science Degree in Economics from the Odessa Institute of National Economy in Russia.

He started as Assistant Lecturer, and rose through the ranks to serve as the Dean of Students.

The statement said following the retirement of Dr Henry Appiah as Principal, this year, Mr Okorley became the acting Principal. It said a book of condolence had been opened at the Polytechnic while funeral arrangements would be announced later.
