Accra, Dec. 1, GNA – Forty-two security personnel, who have undergone 12 weeks of training in military drill and duty course at the Military Academy and Training Schools, on Thursday passed out at parade in Accra.
The personnel, who were drawn from the various security services, were made up of Warrant Officers and other Non-Commissioned Officers. They included 34 personnel from the Ghana Armed Forces, two from the Sierra Leonean Army, two from the Ghana Police Service and one from the Ghana Prisons Service.
The rest were one each from the Ghana National Fire Service, Ghana Immigration Service and Customs, Excise and Preventive Service. Commodore Mohammed Muniru Tahiru, the reviewing officer, said the aim of the course was to equip the participants with up-to-date knowledge in drill and the essentials of unit administration. He said the course was also to broaden the professional outlook of the personnel for effective leadership by building on their existing skills, knowledge and experience in order to serve as a vital link of command for the various security services.
Commodore Tahiru called on them to abide by the regulations, norms and ethics of their training and to discharge their duties professionally.
“As senior Non-Commissioned Officers you are an important part of the chain of command and, therefore, must always be aware of the indispensability of your contribution to command and control and the crucial leadership roles you are requested to play in your respective services,” he said.
Cdr. Tahiru urged them to exercise the highest form of discipline in order to be able to control their subordinates.
Staff Sergeant Andrews Nardi emerged as the overall best student of the course, while Staff Sergeant Peter Agbesi won the course’s administrative prize for being the best student in administration. The RSM award went to Sergeant Martin Danso.
