Distributing company, helping reduce poverty in Northern Region

Tamale, Nov 27, GNA – A Tamale-based company distributing food items and other income-generating materials to individuals in the Northern Region has helped about 250 people to expand their businesses. Mr. Paul Ayinbila Ayinsakiya, Executive Member of the Multiple Distributors Network (MDN), said this in Tamale on Saturday when the company distributed goods and items worth about 300 million cedis to about 200 individuals, mainly women in Tamale.

The items included 950 bags of cement, 250 bags of sugar and 120 bags of imported rice, whiles others ranged from roofing sheets to boxes of key bar soap.

Mr. Ayinsakiya stated that even though MDN was operating on commercial basis, its profit margin was very small to ensure that they helped individuals who wanted to go into business but had no money to expand.

He said the company had branches all over the country and called on those interested to join by paying a membership fee of 250,000 cedis. He said the company started operating in Tamale in February this year with members paying only the membership fee but some were now receiving goods worth about 12.6 million cedis. The Executive Member expressed gratitude to the members and gave the assurance that the company was going to ensure that poverty was reduced in areas it operated.

Mr. Abubakari Imoro, Chairman for the function commended MDN for its activities and advised it against increasing its profit margin so that many could join.

Some of the beneficiaries told the GNA that they had doubts when the company was first introduced to them and that the benefits they had accrued would put their businesses in shape. Ms Sauda Bukari, a beneficiary said, “I actually doubted the benefits of the company but now that I am taking away a motorbike for paying only 250 thousand cedis is something praise worthy”.
