GNTF in Ashanti realized 35 million cedis last year

Kumasi, Nov 27, GNA – The Ashanti Regional secretariat of the Ghana National Trust Fund (GNTF) realized a total of 35 million cedis last year being the contributions from individuals, churches and organizations towards the fund.

Part of the amount was used to provide equipment and tools for some disabled persons to enable them to set up their own businesses and contribute meaningfully towards development. Dr Samuel Boamah Obeng, chairman of the Fund-Raising Committee of the GNTF in Ashanti, disclosed this at a dinner dance organized by the committee in Kumasi at the weekend.

He said since the inception of the fund 30 years ago, it has helped in achieving a lot in socio-economic development of the country. Dr. Obeng therefore, extended gratitude and appreciation to all those who have contributed towards the fund. He said the GNTF in Ashanti has targeted 50 million cedis this year from individuals and organizations to support its programmes and activities.

He used the occasion to appeal to the people and organizations to contribute generously towards the fund to help support the needy in society.

Mr Stephen Armah, the Regional Organiser of the Fund on behalf of the Fund presented certificates to individuals and organization for their financial support.
