Asankrangwa (W/R), Nov.24, GNA – Miss Rita Amoako, 20 on Tuesday met her untimely death when a KIA truck knocked her down in an attempt to pick her slippers from the middle of the road at Asankrangwa. An eyewitness account said, Rita boarded an Asankrangwa bound passenger vehicle at Amoaman and a pair of her slippers fell in the middle of the road when the vehicle reached Asankrangwa.
He said the deceased alighted from the vehicle to pick it up and in the process was knocked down by the truck killing her instantly. She has since been buried.
Police Inspector Kwame Kyeremeh of the Accident Unit of Asankrangwa Police confirmed the story and said the police were investigating the accident. In another development, two passengers died on the spot and another later at the Manso-Amenfi Health Centre when a Kumasi-bound Benz Bus skidded off the road at Amenfi-Nkakaa while avoiding a pothole and ran into a ditch. Several passengers who sustained serious injuries were on admission at the Asankrangwa Catholic Hospital and responding to treatment.
