Mankessim (C/R), Nov. 17, GNA – Traders who display their wares along the street in Mankessim have been cautioned to stop the practice as drivers would not accept liability for any mishap in the discharge of their work.
Mr Kwesi Baffoe, an executive officer of the Mankessim Number Three branch of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) gave the warning when he led newsmen to inspect how the women had turned the busy street into a market place.
Mr Baffoe appealed to the police to take immediate steps to check the situation before any disaster could strike.
He said pineapple and vegetables sellers as well as dealers in household utensils had taken over almost half of the street in front of the Ghana Commercial Bank at Mankessim, making vehicular and human traffic very difficult to control, especially on market days. Mr Baffoe appealed to the Mfantseman District Assembly to allocate a place inside the market for the street vendors. “We should not wait for an accident to occur before we take action,” he stated. 17 Nov. 05
