Sunyani, Nov 16, GNA – A seven-year-old pupil of Kwaku Anya Roman Catholic Primary School in Dormaa District who a farmer raped has died at the Government Hospital in Sunyani.
Madam Comfort Asieduwaah, mother of the pupil, told newsmen at the hospital that Nana Badu, a 22 year-old farmer, raped her daughter in October.
She said the child failed to report to her or any member of the family about the incident until four days later when she fell sick.
The victim’s mother said the case was reported to the police at Dormaa Ahenkro and Badu was arrested but later granted bail. Madam Asieduwaah said when the little girl was sent to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi, Badu’s parents agreed to pay the hospital bills but after paying for the first three medical check-ups they stopped.
Since she did not have any money she discontinued sending her to the hospital.
Madam Asieduwaah said her daughter’s sickness resurfaced and was sent to Dormaa Hospital but after being on admission for one week she was transferred to the Government Hospital in Sunyani on November 7 but she died a week later.
