Accra, Nov. 15, GNA – The Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences on Thursday inducted six new fellows, including one posthumously, into the Academy at a ceremony in Accra.
The new fellows are Dr Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, Dean of Graduate Studies of the University of Cape Coast; Prof. Takyiwa Manuh, Director, Institute of African Studies, University of Ghana (UG); Dr Eugenia Date-Baah, a Sociologist, and former Director of the International Labour Organisation; Prof. John Bonaventure Kubongpwa Kaburise, Vice Chancellor, University for Development Studies; Prof. Ralph Mills-Tettey, Registrar of the Architects Registration Council of Ghana, and the late Prof. Francis Agbodeka, an eminent historian. The newly inducted Fellows, including the representative of Prof. Agbodeka, said the Fellows’ Declaration, signed the Declaration and the Register and were decorated with brooches.
Dr Date-Baah, on behalf of the new Fellows, described their induction as a confidence building rite of passage, and said they were proud to be welcomed as members of the Academy. She gave the assurance that they would do their best to continue with the ideals of the Academy.
The President of the Academy, Nana Dr Samuel Kwadwo Boateng Asante, congratulated the newly inducted fellows on their induction.
