Parliament approves nominations to ECOWAS Parliament

Accra, Nov. 11, GNA – Parliament on Friday approved the reconstituted nominations to the Parliament of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

They are: Mr Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, NPP, Leader of the Delegation; Mr Balado S.K. Manu, NPP, Ahafo Ano South; Mr David Apasera, PNC, Bolgatanga; Mrs Elizabeth K. T. Sackey, NPP, Okaikwei North and Mr Ken Ohene-Agyapong, NPP, Assin North.

The rest are; Mr John Tia, NDC, Talensi; Mr Michael Teye Nyaunu, NDC, Lower Manya and Mr Francis Agbotse, NDC, Ho West. Moving the motion for the approval of the nominees, Mr Felix Owusu-Adjapong said under Article Five of the Protocol relating to the Community Parliament of ECOWAS, a total of eight seats have been allotted to the Parliament of Ghana out of a total of 120 seats for the entire 16-member ECOWAS Community.

He said under sub-clause (ii) of clause One of Article Seven of the said Protocol, elected Representatives to the Community Parliament of ECOWAS shall be drawn from the National Assemblies of Member States or their equivalent institutions or organs, which shall elect such Members from amongst themselves.
