Court fines sales boys for stealing

Mankranso (Ash), Nov 5, GNA – The Mankranso magistrate court last Friday fined two sales boys of Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited a total of one million cedis for stealing a crate of Malta Guinness valued at 74,000 cedis. Kwabena Grushie, 20, and Kofi Owusu, 21, who all pleaded guilty and were fined 500,000 cedis each will serve three months prison terms each in default.

Police Chief Inspector Abraham Agyei-Mensah told the court, presided over by Mr Frank Owusu-Afriyie that on September 28, this year, Mr Kwasi Boateng, the complainant, who is the sales distributor, was on his normal rounds with the accused persons to distribute drinks. He said in the course of his rounds, the accused persons stole a crate of Malta Guinness and sold it to one Prince Enin at Mankranso for 60,000 cedis.

Chief Inspector Agyei-Mensah said the complainant detected the crime and reported it to the Mankranso police who arrested the two who admitted committing the offence and led the police to the premises of Enin where the crate of Malta Guinness was found. He said a search on Grushie produced an amount of 60,000 cedis.
