Ahmadiyya Mission expresses concern about disturbances after Ramadan

Accra, Nov. 4, GNA – Maulvi A. Wahab Adam, Ameer and Missionary in-charge of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission in Ghana, on Friday called for proper planning to organise picnics and games for the Muslim youth after the Eid-ul-Fitr prayers.

He said it was unfortunate that immediately after the Eid-ul-Fitr prayers some Muslim youth at Darkuman, in Accra resorted to violence and intimidation, which caused damage to properties.

The call was made in a statement issued from the Mission’s National Headquarters in Accra and signed by Mr Ahmad N. Twumasi, the Public Relations Officer.

The Ameer said it was sad to link such behaviour to Islam, adding: “To celebrate Eid and talk about peace, discipline and harmony among other things at prayer grounds to be followed immediately by such behaviour puts the name of Islam into disrepute.” He observed that by such action, the notion by some people that Islam was a violent religion seemed right but it was not in reality.
