Accra, Nov. 2, GNA – Mr Mahama Ayariga, Minority Spokesman on Legal, Constitutional and Parliamentary Issues, has sued government at the Supreme Court for not nominating a substantive chief executive to man the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA).
He is also seeking an order prohibiting the Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister from acting as the Acting Chief Executive of the nation’s second largest Metropolis.
Mr Ayariga, who is also the Member for Bawku Central, had issued a copy of the writ containing his intentions to the Ghana News Agency in Accra.
The writ, dated 31st October 2005 seeks various relieves including a declaration that the President’s failure to nominate a substantive Chief Executive of KMA was a contravention of the Constitution. The defendants are Ms Patricia Appiagyei, Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister and the Attorney General.
