Accra, Nov. 2, GNA – The Executives of the Local Unions of the Teachers and Educational Workers’ Union, (TEWU) and the Federation of Universities Senior Staff Association of Ghana (FUSSAG) of the Public Universities in Ghana on Wednesday said negotiations on their collective bargaining agreement should begin without further delay.
They said, “If by the close of work on Monday November 7, 2005, the VCG has not made it possible for negotiation to commence, we will advise ourselves.”
The General Secretary of TEWU, D. Ayim Antwi; Federal President FUSSAG, Kyei Baffour; First National Vice Chairman of TEWU, Peter K. Lumor and Chairman of Committee of Universities Local Union Executives Thomas Dabriboyen-Ziem, signed the resolution that was issued after a meeting in Accra.
The resolution said the Local Union Executives met with the National Officers of the Union on Monday on the “Collective Bargaining Agreement” and arrived at the decision after having considered decisions by VCG and TEWU/FUSSAG, at a negotiating meeting held on July 19, 2005, that agreed that negotiation for a new Collective Bargaining Agreement should be concluded by September, 2005.
It recalled that proposals for the review of the CBA were submitted as far back as August 22, 2005 and that it took it took cognisance of the undue delay in convening VCG and TEWU/FUSSAG meeting to consider the proposals.
