Sacrifice for your children – Apraku

Accra, Nov. 1, GNA – Dr Kofi Konadu Apraku, Minister of Regional Co-operation and NEPAD, has urged Muslims leaders to sacrifice their energies, time, and resources to push their wards to the highest rungs of the educational ladder.

He said education was a key to open doors for success and development and offered opportunities to the individual, hence the need to invest in their children’s educational activities. A statement signed by Ahmed Osumanu Halid, Media Relations Officer of the Ministry of Regional Co-operation and NEPAD, said Dr Apraku made the call when he addressed a group of Muslims at the Islamic Research Centre in Accra on the final Koran recitation (Tafesir) of Sheikh Mohammed Bashir Yandu.

The Minister gave the assurance that the Government would continue to ensure the development of the country and to share the national cake to all without any discrimination. Dr Apraku asked Muslim communities to continue and maintain good environmental conditions since the religion itself was godly and neatness-oriented.

He commended Muslims in Ghana for ensuring peace and stability and asked them to sustain it throughout the celebration of the Ramadan. The Minister promised to donate a computer and its accessories to the centre.

Imam of Al-Sunnah, Sheikh Umar urged Muslims to avoid backbiting and other acts that undermined each other, since such acts were anti-Islamic.

He called on all Muslims to be actively involved in national affairs and contribute their quota to the development of the nation.
