Church to spend ?950 million on evangelism

Dormaa-Ahenkro (B/A), Nov.01, GNA – Power Evangelism Network (PEN) International, a non-denominational religions organisation is to spend about 950 million cedis on evangelisation in some parts of the country next year.

Four out of its 50 chapters to benefit are, Dormaa, Duayaw-Nkwanta and Berekum in the Brong Ahafo Region and Walewale in the Northern Region.

The money would be used for crusades, seminars, workshops, revivals, prayer conferences and conventions towards evangelisation. Reverend Dr. Peter Owusu-Ansah, Founder and Leader of PEN International, announced this when delivering the sermon at the 10th anniversary celebrations of the Network at Dormaa Ahenkro. PEN is a union of Christian churches formed in 1995, with its headquarters in New York and branches in Ghana, Burkina-Faso, Togo and India.

Rev. Owusu-Ansah denied that PEN had planned to establish a new church from the other groups that constitute PEN. “Members of the network still maintain the programmes, doctrines and status quo of their original churches. They only see themselves as partners in forging a unified Christian front,” He added. Rev. Owusu-Ansah said the Network was established to pool human resources of the churches to maximize strength for rapid evangelisation. Rev. Kennedy Akwasi Frimpong, National Director of PEN International, said the Network had not only succeeded in forging unity among churches, but also encouraged consistency in fellowship activities and Bible studies.

Rev. Peter Yaw Agyapong, President of the Dormaa Chapter of the Network said it had 11 churches and planned to draw more churches into the fold.
