E.P ready to collaborate with government – Rev.Buama

Accra, Oct.30, GNA- Right Reverend Dr Livingstone Buama, Moderator of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church (E.P), Ghana on Sunday expressed the Church’s readiness to collaborate with government in promoting good health delivery in the country. He said in this regard, the Church would act as a stakeholder by embracing government policies that seeks to promote health delivery and not a competitor.

Rt. Rev. Buama made this remarks when he spoke to the Ghana New Agency (GNA) at a Thanks Giving Service to climax the 8th Annual National Delegates Conference of the Men’s Fellowship of the E.P Church in Accra. The three-day conference, which started on Friday, October 28, 2005 attracted delegates from all the ten regions of the country. The theme for this year’s conference was: Breaking new grounds – men, the driving force.”

Rt. Rev Buama said one of the strongest ways to break new grounds in health delivery was to fight poverty and ignorance among the people. He said people who are well informed are able to make intelligent decisions on issues relating to their health. Rt. Rev Buama also announced that plans were far advance for the E.P University to take-off at the shortest possible time, adding that the leadership of the church was leaving no stone unturned to ensure that this was achieved.

“We are not going to allow any group or individuals to delay it further,” he said. He urged friends and citizens of the Volta Region to contribute generously towards the realisation of the project. The Reverend Traugot Soglo, Mamprobi District Pastor of the EP Church for his part urged members of the Fellowship to see themselves as the driving force in their various institutions. He also called on the delegates to make himself available as well as give the required leadership needed in order for the church to break new grounds.

He said they should be committed to the work of the church for it to grow in its evangelisation.
