Concerned citizens appeal to striking teachers to resume work

Akim Asamama (E/R), Oct. 26, GNA – A number of concerned citizens at Akim Asamama in the Atiwa District have appealed to teachers, especially those at Tema, to call off their strike action in the interest of the nation’s future.

Making the appeal at a parent teacher association meeting, on Wednesday at Akim Asamama, Mr John Boafo, a farmer, urged the teachers to consider the sacrifices some parents have put in their wards’ education and resume work in the interest of the future of the pupils. He said everybody was aware of the hardship facing the people, including teachers but urged the Tema teachers to resume teaching, noting that all teachers who resorted to strikes action in the rural areas and some urban areas had gone back to the classrooms in the interest of the students and pupils in their care.

Mr Boafo urged the teaches to consider the negative effects of their actions and help to build a healthy and prosperous nation capable of taking its own destiny into its hands. A number of teachers interviewed by GNA showed that the teachers in deprived areas in the District have resumed work.
