Two suspects remanded in police custody for alleged child stealing

Techiman(B/A),Oct.25, GNA – A Techiman Circuit Court has remanded two accused persons in police custody for allegedly stealing a 12-year-old pupil of Ameyaw Primary School and son of Police Chief Inspector Godfred Dwomor of Techiman Police.

Kwasi Nyame, 28, labourer and Kwadwo Ayamba, 32,a mason apprentice pleaded not guilty and would re-appear on October 28.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Sampson Y. Jebuni told the court presided over by Mr. Godwin A. Kwasikuma that the accused were friends of the pupil and when he left for school in July this year, had not returned.

He said the boy’s parents later learnt that the accused persons lured their son to a Nigerien woman who had sent him to Niger. Police Chief Inspector Jebuni said police arrested the accused persons at dawn on October 13 and during interrogation, Ayamba confirmed to the police he knew the woman at the Techiman market.

He said the police took Ayamba to Techiman market but could not locate the woman.
