Kufuor attends former Minister’s burial service

Kumasi, Oct. 22, GNA – President John Agyekum Kufuor was among a large number of mourners who attended the burial service of the late Mr Edward Osei-Kwaku, former Minister of Youth and Sports, at the Saint Cyprian’s Anglican Cathedral in Kumasi on Saturday.

Also in attendance was the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Ministers of State, Members of Parliament (MPs), members of the Diplomatic Corps, traditional rulers, leading members and supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Others were Mr Victor Gbeho, former Minister of Foreign Affairs, members of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA), some leading opposition figures, religious leaders and some security service commanders. The government, the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) and the family read tributes.

Right Reverend Daniel Yinkah Sarfo, Anglican Bishop of Kumasi led the burial Mass, describing the late Mr Osei-Kwaku, who was a leading member of the church, as a true Christian who followed the teachings and words of God.

He said Mr Osei-Kwaku would be remembered by his fortitude in the service of God and the church and prayed that God would grant him eternal rest.

Mr Osei-Kwaku, who was the former MP for Asokwa West in Kumasi, died in a motor accident on Tuesday, September 12, at Roman Hill, after attending a family meeting in his family house. He died at the age of 63.
