Farmer on 10 million cedis bail for stealing

Nyinahin (Ash), Oct 20, GNA – A Nyinahin magistrate court, chaired by Mr. Noble Nkrumah has granted Kwasi Appiah, a farmer of Nsuontem bail in the sum of 10 million cedis with one surety for stealing nine hybrid cocoa seedlings belonging to one Thomas Berko.

He pleaded guilty and will re-appear on November 4. Prosecuting, Chief Inspector G.K. Letsah told the court that on September 9, this year, the complainant who commutes daily from Nsuontem to Bibiani, detected the theft of nine seedlings from his nursery at Nsuontem and subsequently reported the matter to the local volunteer group.

A few days later, the group traced the seedlings to the farm of Appiah and were about to be planted. He was therefore handed over to the police and during interrogations he admitted the offence.
