Apam (C/R), Oct. 13, GNA – The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Gomoa, Ms Joyce Aidoo has feted the newly elected executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for both Gomoa East and West constituencies at Apam.
In an address she appealed to the losers in the elections to accept the decision of the electoral colleges in good faith saying, “the beauty of democracy lies in the vanquished accepting the majority decision”. The DCE urged the new executives to resolve to change the negative perception of the people about the party in the District by doing away with divisive tendencies.
She advised them to work harder to support the District Assembly to move the development of the area forward. The DCE, however, cautioned them against undue interference in the work of the Assembly.
Mr Fred Oscar Abban, Presiding Member of the Assembly, advised the executive members not to use their positions to lord it over the other members of the Party, saying, “You are elected to serve but not to be masters and mistresses”.
Mr Abban urged them not to forsake the members of the party especially the foot soldiers. Mr Augustus Kofi Mensah, Gomoa East Constituency Chairman, advised the executive members to be abreast with the Party’s Constitution and Government policies to enable them to counteract accusations against the Government.
Mr Joe Donkoh, Gomoa West Constituency Chairman, urged them not to create any doubt about their loyalty to the party and the Government through their actions.
He appealed to the old executives to place their knowledge and experience at the disposal of the new ones, adding that by working together they could move the NPP forward. Mr Andrews K. Opoku, a senior member of the Party in the Gomoa West constituency called for unity within the rank and file of the NPP in the District.
