Accountant remanded for stealing

Accra Oct. 13, GNA – An Accountant of the Controller and Accountant General’s Department accused of transferring state funds into the accounts of two bank officials on Thursday appeared before a Circuit Court in Accra charged with stealing.

Nicolas Sakyi, whose plea was not taken, was remanded into prison custody to reappear on October 20.

The case of prosecution was that Sakyi was attached to the Department of Urban Roads, Kumasi and that between May and June this year, he illegally transferred national treasury cash of 702,180,375 cedis into the account of Kingsley Owusu- Ansah and Joseph Appiah all staff of Atwima Mponua Rural Bank in Kumasi.

Prosecution said the police were conducting further investigations into the matter.
