Herbalist appeals to ministry to collaborate with herbalists

Ejisu (Ash), Oct 06, GNA – A herbalist on Thursday appealed to the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the Ghana Health Service (GHS) to collaborate with herbal medical practitioners in the quest for a cure for HIV/AIDS.

Mr Kamara Agyapong, the Managing Director of Mpaebo Herbal Centre, told the GNA in an interview that it was only through the collective efforts of orthodox and herbal medical practitioners that the dream of developing a cure for HIV could be realized. He urged the MOH and GHS to desist from dismissing outright claims by certain herbalists that they have found a cure for HIV. ”Instead of dismissing such claims as baseless, it will be prudent for the MOH and GHS to subject such herbal preparations to scientific analysis before arriving at a decision.”

Mr Agyapong said if any medicine could be developed for management, treatment and cure of HIV/AIDS, it would come from herbal medicine and for that matter there was the urgent need for the Authorities to focus more on investing in that area.
