Medical officer appeals for more doctors at Enchi hospital

Enchi (W/R) Sept. 28, GNA – Dr Alex Obeng, Senior Medical Officer in charge of the Enchi Government Hospital has appealed for more medical practitioners especially surgical specialists to enhance health care delivery to the people.

He said “being the only specialist who performs surgery and attend to sick patients at the same time was creating a lot of inconveniences and undue delays to both patients and workers.” Dr. Obeng was speaking to the Ghana News Agency on the operations of the hospital at Enchi.

He said with the inception of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), there was the tendency that attendance at the hospital would increase and without more medical practitioners, treatment and caring for the sick would be a problem.

Dr. Obeng appealed to the people to register with the NHIS to enable them access quality health care. He commended Mr. Samuel Adu-Gyamfi, Member of Parliament in the area for his immense contribution and assistance to the hospital to acquire a refrigerator for its mortuary. However, Dr Obeng appealed for a stand-by generator for the hospital.
