Accra, Sept. 28, GNA – The Accra Regional Police Public Affairs Unit on Wednesday advised members of the public to cooperate with the joint Police and Military patrols combating and preventing robbery and other serious crimes.
A statement signed by ASP Jordan Quaye of the Public Affairs Unit asked “the public to stop when asked to by the patrol team; comply if asked to open car boots; reduce headlight beams when getting close to Police check points and drive slowly when advancing towards the snap-check-point”. Drivers should switch on vehicle inside lights or torches so that the patrol team could search when they wanted to do that. The Police asked those with licensed guns for protection to have their licences handy and not to attempt to conceal them. Pedestrians were cautioned to cooperate and not fidget. They should not put their hands in their pockets or try to run away since such actions could be misconstrued by the patrol as attempting to draw a weapon or they would be mistaken for a criminal and the consequences might be dire. The statement said complaints could be lodged with the Police-Military patrols and the public could give them tip-offs on crime.
