Saltpond Methodist High School faces accommodation problem

Saltpond (C/R), Sept. 26, GNA – The Headmaster of the Methodist High School at Saltpond, the Reverend Solomon Paa Grant-Essilfie, has appealed to the government to help solve the acute accommodation problem facing the school.

Rev. Grant-Essilfie said if immediate help were not received the school would not be able to accommodate majority of the boys allocated for SSS one, this year.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Saltpond, the headmaster explained that the school had no boarding facilities, adding that, the hostel for the boys could accommodate only 80 students, while 127 boys and 107 girls had been allocated to the school.

He said this meant that the boys hostel could only take 20 new boys since there were already 60 continuing students.

“Where to accommodate the remaining 107 boys is the headache of the school,” the headmaster stated.

The headmaster said the girls could be conveniently accommodated since there was enough room in their hostel. Rental accommodation was difficult to come by at Saltpond and asking parents to make their own arrangement for their children would be a problem. Rev. Grant-Essilfie appealed to real estate developers for help in saving the situation.
